We have learnt a few commonsensical things from the week’s events. One, don’t be greedy. Two, if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.
- Ms Selena Ling, head of treasury and research,
OCBC Bank on the financial crisis
Hey Mag. So nice to see you again on Sunday, 12 Oct. Regarding Ms Ling’s opinion on the financial crisis, it is actually just an observation from the world’s perspective. As Christians(people in Christ), we should always listen first to our Abba father for guidelines and judge statements like these through God’s Word, not the person because ultimately as you pursue further into your career, which I believe by God’s grace you will, you will find greater joy at the end of the day in listening to him rather than listening to the financial world which is constantly dependent on the ups and downs of the stock market. Ms Ling’s statements are not wrong but the second part when she says “it sounds too good to be true, then it PROBABLY is” will somehow make people like me think that God will PROBABLY bless me. Well, Jesus died on the cross and he did not just do it for our sins. Notice in the bible, Jesus was poor his whole life on earth even when he was crucified and he died poor so that through his poverty, we will become rich when we belive God is our provision(Jehovah Jireh) for our lives. We live in the new convenant and Jesus is sitted at the right hand of God when he rose from the grave and the bible clearly says that all Jesus is, so are you in this world. Amen. Hallelujah! In closing, dearly beloved daughter in Christ, keep your eyes focus on God who will and not probably, bless you with favor in your work place and prosper you through the riches of his grace and, not the wavering and poverty of our faith, like the wavering financial world and the stock market. If you have time, do listen to the sermons by Pastor Prince through the link provided above. Always remember that you are deeply blessed, highly favored and deeply loved. See you soon.

Ok. You know the part “PROBABLY”. Yup, to be honest, it gives me the impression as a Christian that God may probably bless you. But when i was taught by Pastor Prince that Jesus died on the cross for all our sins, we know sure that God will forgive all our sins. What i am trying to say is, dont let quotes of uncertainty rob you of ALL the blessings God has for you. And when you wake up every morning, confess that you are the righteous of God through Jesus Christ and have a confident expectation of life.
Trust God. It is working for me. Get it? If you already know, then just take it as reminder.

hm? so you are just not really liking the word probably eh? haha… hiyarh…. doesn’t really matter lah…
just to clarify, that sentence in the quote just means, if something sounds too goo to be true… then it’s probably too good to be true ie, it’s not true….
